NEWSFLASH... Wiggle Room is named a "Great Find" for stylish maternity wear in the August 2007 Washingtonian Magazine! Click here to see the article!
"In an informal survey of stylish new moms, we kept hearing about one store: Wiggle Room.
Bridget Gray opened this Bethesda consignment shop in December 2005, tapping into a huge market for midrange to high-end maternity wear. Though inventory varies depending on what consignors bring in, Gray says she carries everything from Gap basics to designer lines like Diane von Furstenberg and Cadeau.
'We're great for black tie,' she says. Wiggle Room takes the price for a mint-condition, worn-once formal garment down a notch or two. The shop, which also sells children's clothes and gear, has done so well that Gray is expanding, opening up a back room to more consignments and some new items, like T-shirts, that don't necessarily last more than one pregnancy."

No More Moo-Moos: Chic Shopping for Mom by Julie Epstein
Boutique: Wiggle Room, located in the heart of downtown Bethesda (Del Ray Avenue, right off Old Georgetown Rd.), is a down-to-earth, little boutique filled with hip clothing for mom, plenty of baby gear, children’s apparel, unique gifts, and bar-none customer service.
Known for: Wiggle Room offers consignment (and new) maternity and children’s clothing, toys and baby gear. Because it’s Bethesda, you are guaranteed to get only the best designers wrapping the tummies of the mommy-to-be (yes, designer maternity wear does exit). Distressed that you can’t fit in your “skinny jeans” anymore? Gorgeous dresses and blouses from Mimi maternity, diane von furstenberg, Pea in the Pod, Tibi, Gap, Liz Lang, 7 Jeans, Barney’s ‘Procreation Line,’ Lily Pulitzer, three dots, Glamour mom tops, and petunia pickle bottom should lift your spirits. Once you’re done going gaga over the selection, you’ll notice the store is almost too cute to be true, with gifts like the ‘Preggo’ gift basket filled with shea butter for mom’s tummy, a gel mask, "belly bars," preggie pops (for when you’re not feeling so hot) and herbal teas.
Collection: Wiggle Room is one of the only consignment shops in the area. The boutique offers pregnant women and new moms a chance to both consign clothing and items they don’t need any more and to buy high end finds at a decent price. There is a focus on excellent customer service; the women who run this boutique are warm, friendly, and knowledgeable about designer trends. And, similar to Filene’s, they do date-stamped pricing to boot, so the inventory never gets stale. Merchandise is full price for 30 days, but then discounted 10% from day 31 – 60, and another 10% from 61– 90 days.
Wiggle it, just a little bit, Mom.
Customers can create a ‘Wish List’ where the staff will call them when an item comes in. (A real plus when you can’t find time to rip yourself away from the ice cream dish.)
CEO and founder, Bridget Gray, opened Wiggle Room in December 2005 and has had an amazing response. Because of their growing popularity, Wiggle Room literally needs more ‘wiggle room’ and they are planning to expand to carry more maternity clothing, children’s furniture and toys. They also plan to add more fun décor and create a community mommy and baby space for lounging and relaxing. If only the rest of the city was this accommodating.
Monday, closed; Tuesday – Saturday, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm; and Sunday, 12:00 – 5:00 pm.
You need to schedule an appointment to consign any item.
